Entering his sixth season at UNH in 2007, Faherty has built Charger Women’s Soccer into one of the top programs in the region. In fact, the team entered the season ranked 23rd in the nation according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. It marks the third straight season under his leadership that the team has been ranked in the NSCAA/adidas national Division II poll.

The turnaround under his watch has seen UNH go from just four wins in his first season to a combined 29 wins and back-to-back NCAA appearances in the last two campaigns. With 51 career victories at UNH, Faherty is already the winningest coach in the program’s 14-year history.

In 2006, UNH made its second straight NCAA appearance, advancing to the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships Northeast Regional in West Chester, Pa. With 12 wins during a regular season which saw UNH ranked as high as 15th in the NSCAA/adidas national rankings, the Chargers earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA regional. Crystal Lindsay, one of Faherty’s first recruits as head coach at UNH, shattered the school’s all-time and single-season records for goals and points and put her name onto the NCAA’s all-time scoring list. Lindsay ‘07 and Selina Moylan ‘09 both captured All-America awards, with second and third team selections, respectively. Additionally, Desirée Guenther ‘07 became the program’s first-ever Academic All-America award winner.

The 2005 season was the most successful in school history, with the team not only making its first NCAA Tournament appearance, but also winning a first-round game to advance to the “Sweet 16”. They were the Northeast Region’s #2 ranked team and ended the season 13th in the NSCAA/adidas National Rankings. Faherty was named conference Coach of the Year after the team won 17 matches, and Crystal Lindsay won the first of her two league Player of the Year awards. The program produced a league-high seven All-Conference players, including four First Team selections.

The team improved by three or more wins in each of Faherty’s first four seasons, and was the 12th-most improved team in Division II in 2005.

A former standout soccer player at Northeastern University in Boston, Faherty spent a year coaching in England while earning a postgraduate degree in football industries at Liverpool University.

As a player, Faherty was a four-year starter and three-year team captain for the Huskies. The team MVP earned America East All-Conference and All-Tournament honors as a senior and participated in the New England Senior Bowl. He helped the Cape Cod Crusaders to the U.S. Open Cup Northeast Regional Championship.

Faherty has become extremely active in the local club soccer scene, and is coaching director of CFC Impact. He is also a Connecticut Staff Coach for Education and the ODP program.
