Tanya Rhodes brings a wealth of high-level playing experience to her first season on the bench for the Chargers, after she starred at Division I University of Rhode Island for four seasons. Tanya will be responsible for post player development, scouting and film exchange for UNH.
While at URI, Rhodes was a three-time selection to the Atlantic-10 Conference All-Defensive team while averaging 3.0 steals per game for her four-year career. During her sophomore season (2003-04), Tanya led the Rams in scoring, rebounding and steals and was a Third Team All-Atlantic 10 selection.
As both a junior and senior, Rhodes led Rhode Island in rebounding and steals and was second on the team in scoring. Tanya recorded ten double-doubles during her senior season while averaging 3.8 steals per game (fourth in the country) and was selected to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team.
Rhodes is a native of Norwalk, Conn. where she attended Norwalk High School and played for four seasons under coach Fred English. She led the Bears to the FCIAC Championship in 1999, 2000 and again in 2001. Tanya was named the Most Valuable Player of the state championship game in 2001 after she averaged 18.7 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. She led Norwalk to an outstanding 97-7 record during her four-year career.
Rhodes spent last season coaching the freshman girls’ team at Weston High School in Weston, Conn., and has also spent time coaching the AAU Fairfield County Suns under-13 squad.
Tanya resides in her home town of Norwalk, Conn.
