Joshua Krusewski

Joshua Krusewski was appointed head coach of the Charger men's soccer team on May 2, 2007 and enters his third season in 2009.

Prior to coming to UNH, Krusewski had been an assistant coach in the State of Connecticut for the previous six years, including a stint as the lead assistant coach for Southern Connecticut State University from 2004-2006. He was an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut from 2001-04.

At the time Krusewski was hired, UNH Director of Athletics Deborah Chin said: "New Haven men's soccer has taken several positive steps forward in the past few years, and I'm confident that Joshua will help our team continue that positive momentum. He's a native of this area with strong ties in our community and has experience coaching at a very high level, both in Division I and II."

In 2008, he led UNH to a 4-14-0 record in there first season in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Chargers opened the season by going 2-2 in their first four contests, including a 2-1 victory over then-No. 9 and a ‘08 national finalist, Dowling College. Two games later the program won its first Northeast-10 Conference contest in a 3-2 victory over St. Anselm. The team then lost five straight as they were rattled by key injuries., including two seniors, Jessey Fernandez and goalkeeper James Hilaire. The ‘08 team finished with a 3-10 NE-10 record and three Chargers made the All-NE-10 Teams. James Hilaire and Oren Corridon were Third Team selections, while Steven Gennuso was named to the All-Rookie Team.

In 2007, he led UNH to a 6-10-1 record that belied how competitive the Chargers were in many contests. They held defending national champions and then-No. 7 Dowling College to a scoreless draw on October 16, and had previously scored a win over then-No. 23 University of Bridgeport, 2-1, on October 2, giving them points against the top two teams in the regular-season standings. UNH narrowly missed the conference playoffs, finishing in a tie for fourth but losing out on a berth with a tiebreaking loss.

As the top assistant at Southern Connecticut State, he was responsible for the scouting and recruiting of prospective student-athletes, NCAA regulations and compliance, schedule preparations, off-season training, and served as the team's liaison to the university administration.

The Owls were nationally ranked throughout the 2006 season and posted a 17-3-3 record. SCSU won the New England Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals before losing to the eventual national champions. Last fall, SCSU had the New England Player of the Year, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, Second and Third Team All-Americans, and four all-conference players. Overall, Southern posted a 42-8-11 record in his three-year tenure at the school.

Krusewski began his coaching career as an undergraduate assistant coach at SCSU. As an undergrad, he was a member of the coaching staff during the school's Division II national championship seasons in 1998 and 1999.
He graduated with a B.S. in Business Communication in 2001 and then took a position as an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut under head coach Ray Reid. UConn advanced to the NCAA Division I Championships all four seasons that Krusewski was an assistant, capturing one BIG EAST regular season title and one tournament championship. The team posted a 53-27-9 record during that time. In addition to his coaching duties with the team, he also directed the Ray Reid Soccer School, LLC and established and conducted negotiations with equipment vendors.

"Joshua was invaluable organizationally to our program," UConn's Reid said. "He'll be very successful as a head coach thanks to his drive, work ethic and his knowledge of the game. New Haven should be excited to have Joshua."

Krusewski is a former member of the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) referee's professional list and was a Connecticut Olympic Development coach. He's also a former head coach at North Haven High School and director of coaching/player development for Northeast United Premier.

Joshua and his wife, Theresa, reside in Newington, Conn. His wife, formerly Theresa Uliano, is the all-time leading scorer for SCSU's women's soccer program. The couple has two daughters; Maggie, born in July and Kailey, who will be two in December.
