Joshua Krusewski

 Head Coach
First Season
Alma Mater: Southern Conn. State, 2001

Joshua Krusewski was appointed head coach of the Charger men’s soccer team on May 2, 2007. Krusewski has been an assistant coach in the State of Connecticut for the past six years, including a stint as the lead assistant coach for Southern Connecticut State University from 2004-2006. He was previously an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut from 2001-04.

“New Haven men’s soccer has taken several positive steps forward in the past few years,” said UNH Director of Athletics Deborah Chin. “We played in our conference championship game last season and were very competitive with several nationally-ranked teams, including the eventual national champions. I’m confident that Joshua will help our team continue that positive momentum. He’s a native of this area with strong ties in our community and has experience coaching at a very high level, both in Division I and II.”

As the top assistant at Southern, he was responsible for the scouting and recruiting of prospective student-athletes, NCAA regulations and compliance, schedule preparations, off-season training, and served as the team’s liaison to the university administration.

The Owls were nationally ranked throughout the 2006 season and posted a 17-3-3 record. SCSU won the New England Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals before losing to the eventual national champions. Last fall, SCSU had the New England Player of the Year, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, Second and Third Team All-Americans, and four all-conference players. Overall, Southern posted a 42-8-11 record in his three-year tenure at the school.

“I’m very happy for him,” said Southern Connecticut head coach Tom Lang. “I think he’s ready to take the next step and run his own program. He’s been invaluable to me in his time here, and I’m excited for him. I have great faith that he’ll do a great job over at New Haven.”

Krusewski began his coaching career as an undergraduate assistant coach at SCSU. As an undergrad, he was a member of the coaching staff during the school’s Division II national championship seasons in 1998 and 1999.

He graduated with a B.S. in Business Communication in 2001 and then took a position as an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut under head coach Ray Reid.

UConn advanced to the NCAA Division I Championships all four seasons that Krusewski was an assistant, capturing one BIG EAST regular season title and one tournament championship. The team posted a 53-27-9 record during that time. In addition to his coaching duties with the team, he also directed the Ray Reid Soccer School, LLC and established and conducted negotiations with equipment vendors.

“Joshua was invaluable organizationally to our program,” UConn’s Reid said. “He’ll be very successful as a head coach thanks to his drive, work ethic and his knowledge of the game. New Haven should be excited to have Joshua.”

Krusewski is a former member of the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) referee’s professional list and was a Connecticut Olympic Development coach. He’s also a former head coach at North Haven High School and director of coaching/player development for Northeast United Premier.

Joshua and his wife, Theresa, reside in Newington, Conn. His wife, the former Theresa Uliano, is the all-time leading scorer for Southern Connecticut State’s women’s soccer program. The couple is expecting their first child later this winter.
