Assistant CoachJames Luis joined the UNH coaching staff on May 21, 2007. As assistant coach, Luis will be responsible for recruiting and scouting as well as on-field training and in-game coaching.
Luis comes to UNH with four years of coaching experience and 14 years of playing background. In 2007, Luis served as an assistant coach for the New England Mutiny of the Women’s Professional Soccer League, one of the top-ranked international women’s soccer teams. He has also served as head coach of Academica Futebol Club U-12, assistant coach and head JV girls coach at Cheshire High School, and as a clinician for Collegiate Soccer Systems.
"It’s an honor to come on board," Luis said. "This is a great opportunity to work with a good coaching staff and a solid core of returning players. UNH has a good history and has shown solid support of athletics and the men’s soccer program."
A four-year standout at Newington High School (1992-96), Luis played for the CSL Semi-Professional League’s Hartford Portuguese from 1997-2006. He is currently obtaining his USSF "D" License and already holds USSF Class "E" licensure.
"James has a wealth of experience coaching at different levels throughout Connecticut, and he has a number of contacts that will help us with recruiting," coach Krusewski said. "He will be an asset to me on the field and on the road."
