Assistant CoachRichard Moore joined the University of New Haven men's basketball coaching staff in September, 2007, pairing with fellow assistant coach John Blackgrove to give the Chargers a pair of former Division I student-athletes on staff.
Moore played collegiately for head coach Jim Calhoun at the University of Connecticut and was a member of the Huskies' 1999 NCAA National Championship team. He played alongside such notable players as Richard Hamilton, Jake Voskuhl and Khalid El-Amin. As a walk-on to the 1999 team, Moore played in nine games for the eventual national champions.
Most recently, Moore was an assistant coach at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., for two seasons (2005-06 and 2006-07). He served as the program's recruiting coordinator as well as assisting in practice and game preparation and opponent scouting. He has also been a counselor at numerous basketball campus, including Slamma Jamma, Falcons Camp and the Wesleyan Cardinal Hoop Clinics.
Moore earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology from UConn in 2002.
