Chris Anderson enters his first season with the Chargers as the quarterbacks coach in 2009.
Anderson comes to New Haven following a storied coaching career at Woodland High School in Beacon Falls, Conn. As the program’s inaugural head coach, under Anderson, Woodland H.S. was back-to-back Connecticut Class SS State Champions (2004-05) and Naugatuck Valley League Champions (2004-05). In 2004, the team went undefeated and was ranked No. 6 in the state in the writers’ and coaches’ poll. The Hawks won 22 straight games between 2004 and 2005. Woodland was also the 2007 Copper Division Champions. Anderson was named New Haven Register Football Coach of the Year in 2004 and Waterbury Olympia Club Football Coach of the Year in 2005.
Prior to Woodland High School, he served as Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator at Shelton High School. Shelton was the Connecticut Class LL State Champions in 2000, while Anderson’s offense averaged 35 points per game that season. Anderson mentored current Houston Texas quarterback Dan Orlovsky during his tenure at Shelton
Anderson is currently a physical education and health teacher at Woodland High School. He earned his Bachelors of Science, Physical Education and Masters of Science, Health Education from Southern Connecticut State University.
