Michael Czaja has served as the Athletic Equipment Manager at the University of New Haven since the Fall of 2003.  He is a 1980 graduate of the University of New Haven, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Correctional Administration.  

Prior to arriving at UNH, Mike had retired from public service with the State of Connecticut after serving 23 years with the Judicial Department and the Department of Mental Health/Addiction Services.

Mike has an extensive background in sports officiating.  For 20 years, he was a three-sport referee, officiating basketball, softball, and soccer on both the high school and collegiate levels.  Mike has also been a successful soccer coach on the recreation level in Middletown, Conn., for a period of 15 years, coaching both indoor and outdoor soccer.

Mike has been married to the former Valerie Arlow (BS – University of New Haven, 1981), and the couple will be celebrating their silver anniversary in October, 2008.  The couple is the proud parents of twin daughters Amanda (BS – Northeastern University, 2007) and Carline (BS – Syracuse University, 2006) and have a son Joseph, who attends Middleton High School.  The couple resides in the Middletown area.
