Davie, Fla. -- Four different players scored goals to lead Nova Southeastern University to a 4-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over the University of New Haven on Saturday morning at the NSU Soccer Complex.
New Haven (4-3-0) and Nova Southeastern (6-0-0) were originally scheduled to meet on Friday night, but the game was postponed due to persistent lightning in the area.
Nova Southeastern, receiving votes in the latest NSCAA Division II national poll and the South Region's #4-ranked team, took a 1-0 lead just 9:14 into the game when Shurell Burton scored her 11th goal of the season. Burton was ranked second among the Division II national leaders in goals per game at the start of this week.
The Chargers tied the scored just over two minutes later at 11:30, when Selina Moylan (photo) scored her second goal of the season on a breakaway after a pass from Crystal Lindsay.
The score was tied at the half, but Nova Southeastern proved too much in the second half. They scored three goals in the period, at 55:24, 60:50 and 63:29, to put the game out of reach.
UNH continues its Florida trip with a game against Lynn University on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.They wrap the road trip with an ECC match down the road at Bridgeport on Sept. 23.
