New Haven, Conn. -- Ancil Farrier converted a penalty kick at the 106:39 mark in the second overtime, lifting #13 Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team past the University of New Haven in double overtime on Tuesday night at Jess Dow Field.
Southern Connecticut improves to 11-1-2 overall with the victory, which snapped a four-match unbeaten streak for the University of New Haven (5-8-1). The Chargers had won three of their last four and added a tie last Saturday.
The loss was the fourth by a 1-0 score for UNH this season, and SCSU was the fourth nationally-ranked opponent that the Chargers have faced in 2006.
James Hilaire made three saves for UNH, which had not allowed a goal in 368 minutes, 53 seconds - the equivalent of over four regular-length matches.
It was a foul-filled affair on Tuesday night, with 23 called on UNH and 17 whistled on Southern Connecticut. There were seven cards issued in the game.
