Lowell, Mass. -- University of New Haven senior Paul Bocchino (photo) scored his first career goal at the 16:04 mark of the first half, but #25 UMass Lowell equalized the contest just two minutes later and added two second-half goals for a 3-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over UNH at Cushing Field on Wednesday night.

Taking advantage of a failed clearing attempt by UMass Lowell (2-1-0), Bocchino blasted a shot from 20 yards away past keeper Ryan Richards to give New Haven (1-3-0) the early advantage.

However, just two minutes and three seconds later the River Hawks would tie the contest on Brendan Horne's third goal of the season, an unmarked header from close range off a crossing pass from Edens Chery.

The score would remain knotted at one apiece until the 57:45 mark in the second half, when Anthony Antunes put in his first goal of the season off a pass from Jhony Valencia. Nearly nine minutes later, at 76:12, Guillermo Cisneros scored on a high bouncer to close out the scoring for UML.

James Hilaire made eight saves for UNH, which was out-shot 16-4 overall and 7-1 in the second period. The physical match featured a total of 43 fouls and four yellow cards.

UNH is in the midst of a three-match road swing that started Monday and concludes this Saturday, September 9 with the team's first East Coast Conference match at Concordia College.
