(10-26-09) SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - For the fifth time this season, University of New Haven women's volleyball student-athlete Keidy Candelaria has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 25, 2009.
Candelaria helped lead the Chargers to a pair of NE-10 wins this week, includinga five-set thrilling over Adelphi on Friday night at Charger Gymnasium. She averaged 4.00 kills and 3.00 digs per set this week. The freshman also posted a .243 hitting per centage and grabbed two aces. She hammered a week-high 20 kills on Friday night against Adelphi in a match that could very well determine the regular season NE-10 champion.
Candelaria is currently averaging 3.38 kills and 2.44 digs per set this season. She adds 26 total blocks and 36 service aces.
Candelaria and the women's volleyball team returns to action on Friday, October 30 when they travel to Bentley University at 7:30 p.m. The Chargers host Stonehill College on Saturday, October 31 at Charger Gymnasium starting at 1 p.m.
