(09-26-09) FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The University of New Haven cross country teams competed at the 33dr Annual Father Leeber S.J. Invitational Saturday morning. The men finished tied for seventh place, out of nine teams, while the women grabbed a fifth place finish, of nine teams.
In the women's 5K race, UNH finished with a total time of one hour, 44-minutes and 12 seconds. The Chargers top five runners finished in 18th, 19th, 27th, 29th and 47th place. Dominique Stasulli led the way with a time of 20:13, while Lauren DiMitruck finished one place after Stasulli with a time of 20:14. Melissa Tempesta finished in 27th place with a time of 20:34 and Tania Barnadino finished 29th with a time of 20:36.
In the men's 8K race, Ryan Frietas led the team with a 30th place finish and a personal best time of 26:44. Two spots after Frietas, Matthew Dunham also finished with a personal best time of 26:48. Alaric Best finished third on the team and 34th overall with a personal best time of 26:55. The team finished seventh with a total time of two hours, 17 minutes and seven seconds.
The men's and women's cross country teams return to action at the All-New England Championships in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, October 10.
