(08-06-09) WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven Department of Athletics hosted the City of West Haven Recreation summer campers for a annual coaches' clinic on Wednesday, August 5 at UNH's north campus.
Over 100 children took part in a morning of clinics in six different sports. UNH coaches taught the campers skills in soccer, lacrosse, baseball/softball, track and field, basketball and tennis on the Charger athletic fields. A visit to the new Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium and an appearance by Charlie the Charger concluded the event around noon.
The West Haven Recreation coaches' clinic was part of the UNH Department of Athletics broader community engagement efforts, which seeks to help the surrounding towns and community organizations while providing opportunities for student-athletes and coaches to give back to their communities.
