(05-21-09) WEST HAVEN, Conn. - University of New Haven pitcher Breanne Gleason has been named to the Daktronics All-America Third Team to become the second all-American in the history of the softball program.
Gleason, who was a Daktronics All-East Region selection for the third time in her career, has already earned Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Year, Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team and Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region Second Team accolades this season.
Gleason finished the season with a 31-16 record and 1.47 earned run average. Her 31 victories were the third most for any pitcher in NCAA Division II this season. Gleason also ranked 35th nationally in earned run average.
She pitched 35 complete games, including 12 shutouts, and became the Chargers' all-time leader in strikeouts after finishing with 328 this season. The Bristol, Connecticut native also became New Haven's all-time appearances leader in 2009, adding 49 this season to bring her career total to 123.
