Baseball Places Fifth in NEIBA Poll

(05-13-09) WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven baseball team is fifth in the Division II New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Poll which was released this week.

The Chargers finished their 2009 campaign with a 22-21 overal record and a 16-14 Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) record. In their first season in the conference, UNH advanced to the NE-10 semifinal round with upset wins over Franklin Pierce University and Bentley University in the first two rounds.

Three Chargers were named to the NE-10 Second Team and one to the NE-10 Third Team. Cory Carr was also named to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team.

Franklin Pierce sits a top the final poll, while other NE-10 schools Assumpion College, Southern Connecticut and Bentley round out the top four.
