(03-20-09) KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The University of New Haven softball team fell 2-1 in two extra inning games on Friday afternoon at the Spring Rebel Games. The Chargers dropped their opening game of the day, 2-1 to Augustana (SD) in eight innings and capped the day with a nine-inning, 2-1 loss to No. 19 Nebraska-Omaha. The Chargers fall to 6-4 on the season and conclude their season-opening run at the Rebel Spring Games.
Game One
The Chargers dropped their third game of the season in an eight inning 2-1 loss to Augustana Friday. UNH opened scoring in the second inning and held a 1-0 lead until the fifth inning when the Vikings tied the scored a 1-1. Augustana scored a run in the top of the eighth inning and the Chargers could not answer in the bottom of the inning, suffering their third loss of the season.
Game Two
The nationally ranked No. 19 Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha earned their second extra inning win on Friday afternoon. The Chargers gave up a run in the ninth and suffered the loss.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday, March 24 when they travel to Dowling College. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
