(01-17-09) KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of New Haven men's indoor track and field team competed at the 2009 Sorlein Invitational Saturday afternoon at the University of Rhode Island. Kevin Downing led the Chargers for the second meet in a row by winning the 200 meter dash and placing sixth in the 55 meter dash.
Tyrone Sawyer finished second in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.46 seconds in the finals. He also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.78.
In the 400 meter dash Sylvestre Maldonado led the Chargers with a 18th place finish and a time of 53.60. Tyler Parker finished 20th in the 500 meter run, while Jared Clasper placed 19th in the 800 meter run.
In field events Kyle Lambert led the Chargers and finished 13th in the pole vault finals.
The Chargers men's indoor track and field team returns to action on Saturday, January 24 at the Boston Indoor Games hosted at Boston University.
