(9-13-08) FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The University of New Haven women's and men's cross country teams placed sixth and eighth, respectively, in Saturday's Fairfield University Invitational. The women scored 187 team points in the seven-team meet, while men totaled 178 points against the eight men's teams.
Yale University swept the men's and women's team titles, scoring 24 points in the women's race and 20 in the men's.
New Haven senior Ashley Hardy was the Chargers top finisher for the women, taking 31st place in a time of 20:59.00. Sophomore Ryan Freitas paced the men with a 27th place finish in 27:13.
The cross country teams return to action on Saturday, September 20 when they travel to New Britain for the Central Connecticut State University Ted Owen Invitational.
