DURHAM, N.H. -- The track team competed at the New England Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday. The event was held at the University of New Hampshire's Reggie F. Atkins Track.
Coming up this week for UNH is the ECAC/IC4A Championships, held in Princeton, N.J. from May 16-18. Representing the Chargers will be sophomore Shannon Gagne in both the 200-meter dash and the long jump. The men's team will compete in the 4x100-meter relay.
Women's Recap
Gagne led the Chargers with her performances in both the 200-meter dash and the long jump. She posted an event best time of 24.79 seconds in the 200-meter preliminaries and followed with a fourth place finish in the finals in a time of 24.61 seconds. In the long jump, Gagne posted a tenth-place result with a jump of 5.20 meters.
Freshman Melissa Tempesta posted a time of 12:39.90 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Her time was good for a 21st place finish.
Men's Recap
The men's team was led by a 12th place finish from Tyler Parker in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished in a time a 55.64 seconds. Senior Richard Wyche posted a time of 50.67 seconds in the 400-meter dash, good for a 14th place result.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase event, senior James Beaubrun captured a 15th place finish with a time of 9:53.61.
