Garland Named ECC Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- On Monday, University of New Haven softball player Courtney Garland was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. It is the second time she has won the award this season. The award covered games played from April 28-May 4.

Garland (photo) helped the Chargers to a 2-2 mark at the ECC Championships. She had a three-run homer against Dowling in the first round and added three RBI and scored three runs. Garland also recorded six put-outs and two assists in nine chances in the field.

UNH opens NCAA Northeast Regional play as they will face number one seed C.W. Post for the fourth time this season in the first round on Wednesday, May 7.
