WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- The University of New Haven has earned a share of the East Coast Conference regular-season championship and will be seeded second for the upcoming ECC Baseball Championships, to be hosted by Dowling College on Long Island this weekend.

UNH (22-23 overall) finished in a tie for the regular-season championship with both St. Thomas Aquinas and Dowling (all 17-10 in the ECC).  Because the three tied teams finished with a 3-3 record against one another, the tiebreaking procedure advanced to record versus the next-highest seed, No. 4 C.W. Post.  UNH and STAC both defeated the Pioneers twice during the season, while Dowling had a 1-2 record vs. CWP, knocking Dowling out of the three-way tie.  STAC then claimed the top seed based on a 2-1 record vs. UNH during the regular season.

Both STAC and UNH receive byes into the double-elimination bracket portion of the tournament, beginning Friday, while the No. 3-6 seeds will play a single-elimination game on Wednesday, May 7 and must win to advance to Friday's action.

The winner of the tournament will advance to the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships, beginning May 8.

Tickets for the 2008 East Coast Conference Baseball Championships are available on the day of the game.  General admission tickets are $5.00 per day, while children (under 12) & seniors are $2.00 per day.  Student of ECC institutions with a valid College ID are admitted free of charge.
