CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- University of New Haven's Ashley Ferrandiz picked up her fifth East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week award on Monday. The award covered games played from April 21-27, 2008.
Ferrandiz recorded 6 points (4g, 2a) during a week in which the No. 9 Chargers splits matches versus Bentley and Philadelphia. She also had nine goundballs and five draw controls.
For the season, Ferrandiz (photo) tallied a team-high 64 points. Her 48 goals rank second on the team. Of the Charger's program record 14 wins, Ferrandiz scored five game-winning goals. The West Sayville, N.Y. native was also the team leader with 51 groundballs and ranked second in both draw controls (46) and caused turnovers (17).
