CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- University of New Haven's Ashley Ferrandiz picked up her fourth East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week award and was named the national Rookie of the Week for the third time by WomensLacrosse.com on Monday afternoon. Junior Brigid Brady was also named to the Honor Roll for Player of the Week. The awards covered games played from April 14-20, 2008.
Ferrandiz (West Sayville, N.Y.) recorded 15 points (10g, 5a) during a 3-0 week for the No. 9-ranked Chargers. Her goal in overtime on Sunday sent the Chargers to an 18-17 victory over Saint Anselm. She also had eight goundballs and six draw controls.
Brady (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) tallied 18 points (17g, 1a) to lead the Chargers for the week. She tied for a game-high seven goals versus Saint Anselm on Sunday. Brady scored five goals in each game versus Merrimack College and Bryant University.
