SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Four different Chargers captured a first place at the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday.  Both James Beaubrun (photo) and Melissa Tempesta won the 3000-meter steeplechase, Shannon Gagne won the 100-meter dash and Tyler Parker bested the field in the 400-meter hurdles.

MEN'S RECAP

Beaubrun and Parker led the Chargers on Saturday with their performances in the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 400-meter hurdles repsectively.  In the steeplechase, Beaubrun's time of 9:56.87 was enough for first place.  Sophomore Parker led the field in the hurdle event with a time of 56.05 seconds.

Tetrick Stonar finished in fourth position in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.27 seconds.  Pat Leach also turned in an excellent second place result in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:00.31.

WOMEN'S RECAP

Also capturing a win for UNH was Melissa Tempesta in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  She ran 11:36.62, cutting a couple seconds off of her time from the previous week.

Sophomore Gagne captured the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.69 seconds and finished runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 5.41 meters.  

Senior Alissa von Schmidt placed 5th in the 800-meter dash in a time of 2:29.12.  Junior Ashley Hardy finished in 7th place in the 1500-meter run in 5:15.09.

Up next for the outdoor track team is the 114th Annual Penn Relays held in Philadelphia.  The event runs from Thursday through Saturday.
