NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- Sophomore Kristine Lambracht (photo) scored with just over two minutes remaining to lift the eighth-ranked University of New Haven women's lacrosse team to a come from behind 20-19 victory over Merrimack College on Friday afternoon. The Chargers rallied back from an early seven goal deficit in the win.  Ashley Ferrandiz and Brigid Brady each contributed five goals for the Chargers.

UNH (12-2) has now won 8 of their last 9 matches and remains undefeated away from home. With the loss, Merrimack falls to 8-4.

It was a slow start for UNH as they found themselves behind 7-0 just eleven minutes into the match. But Chargers would rally for six of the game's next eight goals, cutting the lead to 9-6. Brady and Sarah LeGoff opened the scoring for the Chargers, both on free position shots. UNH converted 9 of 12 free position chances in the match.

Merrimack midfielder Kelly Pasquantonio who led all players with nine points in the game (8g, 1a), ended the Charger scoring run with her second goal of the match with 9:38 remaining in the first half. Both teams would trade goals to close out the first period, resulting in a 12-9 Merrimack advantage at the break.

The Chargers started the second half just as their opponents began the match--scoring freely. Erin Metcalf scored the first of five consecutive goals to start the period. Brady's goal at the 25:51 mark gave the Chargers their first lead of the match at 13-12. Lambracht (4g, 1a) capped the run to put UNH up by two. But the lead would last for less than three minutes as the Warriors quickly went on a run of their own. Merrimack scored six goals in a span of only eight minutes en route to an 18-14 lead with sixteen minutes to play.

LeGoff scored an unassisted goal at the 14:30 mark which triggered a frantic finish to the match. The Chargers would rally back from the late four goal deficit to score six goals in the final seven and a half minutes to complete the comeback. Following LeGoff's goal, Heather Miles, Ashley Ferrandiz and Brady scored three consecutive goals to tie the match at 18-18. Exactly one minute later UNH once again found themselves behind following Pasquantonio's eighth and final goal of the match.

With just over three minutes remaining freshman Ashley Ferrandiz created an opportunity to get UNH right back in the match. Following a groundball pickup by defender Laura Cote, the Chargers possession ended in a free position opportunity for Ferrandiz who promptly buried the effort to tie the match once again at 19-19.

Despite losing the resulting draw control, UNH would regain possession and complete the comeback in dramatic fashion. Lambracht's fourth and final goal of the match at the 2:11 mark completed the comeback. The goal gave the Chargers just their second lead of the match and proved to be just enough to defeat the Warriors 20-19.

Up next for UNH is another non-conference match at Saint Anselm College on Sunday afternoon. The following Thursday will be Senior Day as the Chargers host Bentley College on Kayo Field at 4:00 p.m.
