LOWELL, Mass. -- Shannon Gagne (photo, left) won three events and James Beaubrun (right) won one to lead the Charger outdoor track team at the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass-Lowell on Saturday. Gagne won both the 100- and 200-meter dash events and also captured first place in the long jump, setting a new school record in the process. Beaubrun finished first in the 3000-meter steeplechase event.
Women's Results
Gagne, a Meriden, Connecticut native, registered a first place finish in the long jump. Her mark of 5.61 meters set a new school record and also made Gagne a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships.
In the 100-meter dash, Gagne finished in a time of 12.59 seconds while in the 200-meter dash her time of 25.61 seconds was also good for first place.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Ashley Hardy, Alissa von Schmidt, Lauren Dimitruck, and Melissa Tempesta finished in second place with a total time of 4:40.40 seconds.
In the 800-meter run senior Alissa Von Schmidt finished in 12th position with a time of 2:28.11 seconds.
Men's Results
James Beaubrun led the men's team with another first-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:45.60 seconds.
UNH also placed two runners in the top-10 in the 100-meter dash event. Tetrick Stonar finished fourth in 11.28 seconds while Michael Stevenson captured ninth place in a time of 11.75 seconds.
Senior Richard Wyche placed tenth in the 200-meter dash in 23.70 seconds and freshman Zachary Goodstein finished in ninth in the 400-meter dash after a result of 52.29 seconds.
Tyler Parker led the Chargers in the hurdles with a fifth place finish in the 400-meter event with a time of 57.07 seconds.
Up next for the UNH outdoor track team is the Springfield College Invitational one week from today on April 19th. The event will be held at Blake Field in Springfield, Massachusetts.
