WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Six Chargers scored multiple goals on Saturday, leading the University of New Haven women's lacrosse team to a 20-10 non-conference victory over Franklin Pierce at Kayo Field.  Junior Mallory Ferrandiz (photo) notched a season-high eight points (4g, 4a) for UNH in the winning effort.

Freshman Ashley Ferrandiz also scored four times for UNH on just five shots.  Brianna Kenworthy and Nicole Van Leer added two goals apiece for the Chargers.

UNH (10-2, 3-2 ECC) led by as many as eleven goals in the match and never trailed.  The win gave UNH their second consecutive victory.

The Ravens (2-9) were led by freshman Lauren Stille, who netted a game-high five goals.  Jordan Baillargeon and Carla Savini also added two goals apiece for Franklin Pierce, a future Northeast-10 opponent for UNH.

Leading off the scoring after just 28 seconds on a free position shot was Kristine Lambracht (3g, 1a).  Goals by Kenworthy, Ashley Ferrandiz and Brigid Brady (3g, 1a) would put the Chargers ahead 4-0 just five minutes into the match.

Three goals in a seven minute span would get Franklin Pierce within three, but UNH would score nine of the last ten first-half goals leading the Chargers to a 15-4 half-time advantage.

Franklin Pierce started off the second half with purpose, tallying four goals inside of the first 12 minutes.  But UNH would up the pressure in the last fifteen minutes adding five goals to their total in the back half of the period.

Mallory Ferrandiz put an exclamation point on the victory with her final goal of the match just six minutes from the finish.  She scored in spectacular fashion on a quick shot directly off a pass from Heather Miles who was positioned behind the goal.

Up next for UNH is a home match-up with Bryant University on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on Kayo Field.  Later in the week they travel to Merrimack and Saint Anselm for two more non-conferences games.
