CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- University of New Haven junior Mallory Ferrandiz (photo) was named the East Coast Conference Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday, earning her first weekly award of the season.  It covers games from March 10-16.

Ferrandiz, coming off a surgery which forced her out early last season, led the Chargers with 13 points (8 G, 5 A). She scored three goals versus Southern Connecticut State University and added five against Rollins College. Ferrandiz also contributed four groundballs and two caused turnovers.  UNH won both of those games leading the team to a 2-0 start to the season.

Also earning ECC honors as Rookie of the Week was freshman Ashley Ferrandiz.  In her first two collegiate matches Ferrandiz tallied eight points (5 G, 3 A), including seven groundballs and 10 draw controls.

One of her goals was the game-winner versus Rollins College on Saturday.  It is her first ECC award of the season.
