CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- University of New Haven junior Jimmy Rivas was named East Coast Conference Baseball Baden Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday, earning a share of the first weekly award of the season. It covers games from March 3-9.
Rivas hit .800 (4-for-5) with a double in two seven-inning games at No. 15 West Chester last weekend. He slugged 1.000 and walked once for an .833 on-base percentage, and also stole one base.
Rivas is in his first season at UNH after transferring from Monroe College in Bronx, N.Y. He is a native of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.
