Track Competes at New England Championships

BOSTON -- Shannon Gagne (photo) placed in the long jump and Richard Wyche narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 400-meter dash finals, as the University of New Haven indoor track teams competed at the 40th Annual New England Championships this weekend.

Also on the men's side, James Beaubrun (800-meter run) and three relay teams competed at the event on Saturday.

Women's Results
Gagne was seventh overall in the long jump, earning UNH two team points in the meet. She followed up last week's school record jump of 5.52 meters with a performance of 5.35 meters.

In the 200-meter dash, Gagne finished in 11th place. She finished with a time of 25.80 seconds in the sixth heat. Gagne missed out on finals qualification by only 0.08 seconds.

Men's Recap
Richard Wyche both posted time a time of 49.52 seconds in the 400-meter dash. The 11th place finish was one spot out of qualification to the finals heat.

Beaubrun ran 1:56.58 in the 800-meter run, finishing in 20th place overall behind thirteen Division I competitors.

The men's 4x800-meter relay team finished in 13th place with a time of 7:57.71. And in a time of 10:26.36, the distance medley team posted a 15th place result.
