WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Jamie Crooks and Erik Kuld each had 13 kills to lead the Harvard University men's volleyball team to an Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association sweep of the University of New Haven on Friday night at Charger Gymnasium.  Harvard won by scores of 30-26, 30-18, 30-23.

Kuld hit .476 and Brady Weissbourd had 12 kills on .750 hitting and added seven block assists for Harvard (5-5, 4-2 EIVA Hay Division).  The Crimson hit .360 as a team, including .522 in the second game.  Setter Gil Weintraub added 38 assists and four block assists.

UNH, losers in six of the last seven matches, falls to 7-8 overall and 0-4 in the EIVA Hay.  Chris Lennon (photo) continues his stellar play for the Chargers, with 13 kills and 12 assists.  Matthew Soderstrom had seven kills on .417 hitting, while Austin Michalski led the team with 16 assists.

Harvard built up a big lead in the first game, 11-3, but UNH came all the way back to tie the contest at 18-18.  However Harvard would scored 6 of the next seven points to take control.

Harvard led 18-13 in the second game before closing out the frame on a 12-5 run.  UNH committed seven errors during that time.

In the third game, UNH hung tough up to 23-20, but Harvard got two in a row and 7 of the final 10 points to close out the match.

UNH travels to non-conference opponent Lasell College next Tuesday, March 4, and then plays at home three times in a row on March 6, 11, 13.
