NEW YORK -- Devin Zolnowski had 11 kills and Jon Wintermeyer added eight as the No. 5 New York University men's volleyball team took a tight 30-28, 30-21, 30-24 decision over University of New Haven at Coles Sports Center on Wednesday night.
Chris Lennon (photo) led UNH (6-6, 0-3 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Hay Division) with 15 kills on .407 hitting, adding nine assists and six digs.
But the Chargers had 11 service errors and 17 hitting errors, and No. 5 NYU (8-5, 1-1 EIVA) served up 11 aces. Wintermeyer had four of those aces while Francis Hodgson had seven kills on .500 hitting for the Violets.
The Chargers hit just .130 for the match, versus .257 for NYU. Tommy Musto led all players with eight digs for UNH.
UNH steps out of conference this weekend for a tri-match at Emmanuel College, with the second match against Mount Olive College. They resume EIVA play next Friday, February 29 at home vs. Harvard University.
