NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- Chris Lennon recorded his second triple-double of the season and recorded a season-high 16 digs as the University of New Haven men's volleyball team downed SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday night at the Hawk Center, 30-25, 30-28, 15-30 and 30-26.
UNH (3-1) was led once again by Lennon, who had 16 kills, 22 assists and 16 digs for his second triple-double in four matches this year. Drew Kirkeby matched Lennon with 16 kills, adding three blocks, while Austin Michalski had five kills on .444 hitting and 21 assists.
New Paltz (0-9) was led by a match-high 17 kills from Alexander Jackson, and also got 16 kills on .560 hitting from Ryan Huberty. Stephen Pendleton had 39 assists and nine kills.
As has been the story so far this season, UNH out-blocked its opponent by a 10-6 margin, getting two solo blocks apiece from Kirkeby, Lennon, Michalski and Tommy Musto (8 kills).
UNH hit .462 in the first game and .343 in the second, and looked to be cruising for a 3-0 win. But the Chargers committed 11 hitting errors for a -.192 percentage in the third game. They rebounded for the match victory by hitting .441 in the fourth.
The Chargers travel to Cambridge, Mass. this weekend for the MIT Invitational.
