KINGSTOWN, R.I.-- The Chargers indoor track teams continued their season on Saturday afternoon at the Sorlein Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island. UNH faced strong competition from numerous Division I institutions.
Women's Results
Leading the way for the University of New Haven was redshirt freshman Melissa Tempesta (photo) who broke the school record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:14.52. She broke the previous record set by Jamie Grace-Alvarado in 2002 by nearly three seconds.
Senior Alissa von Schmidt finished in 13th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.84. Also pacing the Chargers was Angel Colandrea who finished in eighth place in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.27.

Men's Results
Richard Wyche led the Chargers Men's team with a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.67. This past week Wyche was named the Division II ECAC Track Athlete of the Week.
In the one-mile run James Beaubrun continued his solid season with 10th place finish in a time of 4:27.89. He finished second among Division II runners, behind David Metzger of Stonehill College. Jake Wall also contributed to the Chargers' efforts on Saturday with a 16th-place finish in the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.80 seconds.
