WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Queens College got two unanswered goals midway through the second half, including the game winner in the 62nd minute, to down University of New Haven by a 3-2 score in East Coast Conference men's soccer on Saturday afternoon at Kayo Field.

Queens improves to 5-9-0 overall and 3-5-0 in ECC play with the victory, which snapped a three-match losing skid.

UNH, meanwhile, falls out of the ECC Tournament race with a loss that dropped them to 5-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in league play.  UNH is currently tied for fifth in the league standings and cannot move into the top four spots for a playoff berth.

Queens got on the board first on Saturday, with Johnny Osorio's first goal of the season in the 36th minute.

But the Chargers led by a 2-1 margin early in the second half.  At 39:57, Cristian Sanchez fed a pass to Jason Zurita (photo), who dribbled around defenders to the middle of the field for an 11-yard goal.  Then just 2:29 into the second half, a foul in the box gave John Nolan a penalty kick try.  He beat Queens goalkeeper Damian Skiba for UNH's first lead of the day.

The Knights got two goals in a span of 6 minutes, 30 seconds to take away the victory, however.  Jesus Daniel Cano took a pass from Noorullah Mashriqi and hit a shot from 22 yards out at the 54:52 mark to tie the contest.  Mashriqi then scored his first of the season off a pass from Stelios Andreou to seal the victory for the visitors.

Saturday was Senior Day for the Chargers, who honored Tim Williams, Tyler Smith, Cristian Ortiz and Kevin Gargan prior to the contest.  Gargan replaced James Hilaire (six saves) in goal, and the senior keeper made two stops while playing a scoreless final 10:45.  Williams was just inches away from his first goal of the season in the second half, when a header in the box was touched just wide to the left.

The Chargers play their home finale on Wednesday, October 24 against American International, before closing out their season on the road at C.W. Post on October 27.
