Vieira Field Facts Dedicated: December 5, 1986 |
The Home of Charger Baseball, Frank Vieira Field is named after the first coach - and founder - of the UNH Baseball program.
Located at the North Campus Athletic Complex, overlooking the city of New Haven, Vieira Field provides plenty of seating for fans along the first base line, as well as team dugouts, bullpens, and press box facilities behind home plate. The field is located between Robert B. Dodds Stadium and the University’s softball field. The residential neighborhood venue provides a comfortable setting for families to enjoy the highly successful UNH program, and the field is a convenient walking distance to the main university campus.
THE CAMPAIGN TO UPGRADE VIEIRA FIELD TO VIEIRA STADIUM
Vieira Field is a large part of Coach V's lasting legacy at the University of New Haven, and fundraising efforts are underway to upgrade the profile of our home facility. As the Chargers continue to put the best possible team on the field, it is imperative that UNH begins a major fundraising campaign to upgrade Vieira Field to Vieira Stadium.
We believe the improvements will give current and former players a facility in which they can take pride, and will also serve as a tool to help us continue to bring the region's top recruits to the University of New Haven.
Coach Vieira's retirement dinner in December, 2006 was the first step in these fundraising efforts, but we still need your support to help reach our ultimate goal of $300,000 to facilitate these upgrades.
Specifically, the renovations will include:If you are willing to be a part of the Vieira Stadium Project, please contact: Director of Athletics Deborah Chin 203.932.7016 or dchin@newhaven.edu. |
