Dean's Message

A new era, a new vision, a new beginning...

Welcome to the Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE) at the University of New Haven (UNH). I would like to take this opportunity to present you with unique and exciting educational and growing TCoE alternatives.

TCoE of UNH is the only institution of higher education in the state of Connecticut that offers six (6) nationally accredited engineering programs. The primary focus of the college is the education of individuals for professional practice and rewarding careers in a competitive marketplace. Graduates from TCoE are ready to be involved in dynamic professions that require technical skills and knowledge, judgment, creativity, and teamwork for solving the most important, interesting, and challenging problems facing society today.

Advisory Boards at the departmental level provide input for the design of UNH's engineering and applied science programs that address the needs of both industry and students. The programs of study offered by TCoE are in the general areas of:

-- Computing, Computer Networks, and Information Systems
-- Energy and the Environment
-- Creation, Control, and Optimization of Processes
-- Engineering Management
-- Biotechnology

Students are exposed to the formulation and solution of real-world problems, using modern computer tools and well-integrated laboratory experiences. A student who wishes to work in the field while maintaining progress toward a degree can take advantage of evening classes and flexible class scheduling. Courses are offered with small class size and taught entirely by highly qualified faculty. Our Faculty members are accustomed to working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and are willing to accommodate the needs of individuals. While the programs are rigorous, faculty collaborate directly with students to help them meet the challenges.

TCoE seeks industrial collaboration through the offering of continuing education courses, providing in-house consulting and overseeing student work on industrial projects.

Sincerely,
Barry Farbrother , Ph.D.
