Dave Schuler enjoyed an outstanding baseball career, both at the University of New Haven and in the major leagues. He posted a 25-8 career record at UNH, a .757 winning percentage, and ranks among New Haven’s career leaders in several categories. His 25 wins place him eighth all-time while his 264.2 innings pitched is the 10th highest total in school history at the time of his induction. During his stay, the Chargers registered a 97-27 overall record and advanced to four NCAA tournaments. He pitched for the United States at the 1973 World Games which were played in Central America. Schuler continued his baseball career in the major leagues, signing a professional contract with the Cleveland Indians. He spent several seasons in the majors, making him one of nine Chargers players to appear in a major league game. The Framingham, Mass native pitched for the California Angels and the Atlanta Braves during his career. In 1993, Schuler began his fifth year as a pitching coach in the New York Yankees organization.
