Jan Rossman holds the unique distinction of being the only coach to date to capture a National Championship for the University of New Haven. Prior to her joining the Charger coaching ranks, Rossman coached at Mercy High School (CT) leading her teams to a 48-17 overall record. Her 1983 team competed for the high school Class LL Championship. Rossman continued her formula for success at UNH, compiling a 78-39 record and was rewarded with the 1987 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship. During her four years at UNH, the Chargers took back-to-back New England Collegiate Conference Championships in 1986 and 1987, and won a record 28 straight games in the 1987 championship season. Rossman was named NECC Conference Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1987 and WBCA District Coach in 1987. She coached 10 conference all-stars, 2 Conference Players of the Year athletes and 2 All-Americans.
