Paglialunga was once described by a teammate as a top athlete who led by example and did not put personal achievements above the team's success. He always did whatever it took to help the team win even if it meant changing his position on the field. He started his first two seasons as a Charger at third base but moved to first base for his final two campaigns. The move did not affect him in the least as Paglialunga posted a .991 fielding percentage during his two seasons at first base. Paglialunga was known for more than his fielding prowess, sporting a career .307 batting average with seven home runs and 79 RBI. When you factor in his 72 base on balls, his on-base percentage soars to over .400. His best season came in 1974 when he batted .385 with five doubles, three home runs and 27 RBI, helping New Haven earn its first ever NCAA College World Series berth. During his four years, New Haven received four post-season tournament bids.
