Don Murelli was a catalyst, a leader, and a winner in every sense of the word. Charger teams went 122-24 with Don on the field, and three of the four teams competed in the NCAA Division II College World Series. His best season was in his senior year, when he hit .375, including 68 base hits. That year, 1979, Don was named to the Division II All-American team. He still held school records in career games, at-bats, runs, hits, and average at the time of his induction. The 1979 team that finished fourth in the nation was captained by Don. When his career at UNH came to an end, a new career began with the Baltimore Orioles system. He played for their Miami farm team from 1979 through 1981, but in his third season in the pro’s, his promising pro career came to an abrupt half with a severe shoulder injury.
