Inducted 1986

Tom Michalczyk was a clutch performer and a key figure in four playoffs for the Charger baseball teams from 1975 through 1978.  He ranks as one of the most successful pitchers in Charger history and was responsible for most of his team’s successes during his career.  In only his second season of college ball, Tom was a First Team All-American (1976), compiling a perfect 13-0 record with a 1.58 ERA.  He also won twenty straight games in one stretch.  Tom featured records of 10-2 and 10-0 before completing his career as the all-time winningest pitcher in Charger history, with 34 wins and only three losses.  In the 1978 season, Tom served as captain of a team that went 32-4 and finished third in the country.  His final honor came after that season when he was named University of New Haven Athlete of the Year.  Tom Michalczyk put up numbers that would make any hurler in Cooperstown mighty proud.
