Eric Larson exemplified the true meaning of “student-athlete” during his four-year career at the University of New Haven. He excelled academically by being named to the Dean’s List all eight semesters. His athletic achievements are etched in the record books for his success in the 800 meters. As a sophomore, Larson was the 800m champion at the Connecticut Intercollegiate Championships and a finalist at the New England Outdoor Championships. It was during his junior year, that Larson cemented his place as one of the top runners in New England. He was the New England Champion in the 800m and a member of the championship 4x400m relay team. He was also named Most Outstanding Performer at the NECC Indoor Track Championship after winning the 800m. His junior year was capped off by being named the University of New Haven Male Athlete of the Year and an NCAA All-American. As a senior, Larson would help set the New England Championship record in the 4x400m relay and was crowned champion of the 800m of the NECC. Honored as an All-American on three different occasions, Larson holds the school record for the 800m indoor and outdoor and for the 4x400m relay indoor and outdoor. Larson also excelled academically, graduating Summa Cum Laude and being named a recipient of an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.
