Scott Khoury

Baseball
Outfielder

(1981-82 & 1984-85)

Inducted 1994

Known for his tape-measure home runs, Khoury ranks as one of the best power hitters to wear a University of New Haven uniform.  The outfielder finished his career with 24 home runs, 129 RBIs and 43 doubles, all of which place among New Haven's all-time leaders in each respective category.  Khoury is the exception to the rule that most power hitters do not hit for average and strike out often, owning a lifetime .324 hitting percentage and fanning less than 10 times in each of his final three seasons. His best season came in 1985 when he batted .365 with 11 doubles, 12 home runs and 54 RBIs, which is the second best single season RBI total to date.  Alabama baseball fans still ask about Khoury today, stating that his 450-plus foot home run in the College World Series is still the longest home run ever hit at Paterson Field, a minor league park and host of the Division II Baseball Championship.  Following his career at New Haven, Khoury signed a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
