Offensive Lineman
(1987-88 & 1990-91)
Inducted 1995
Although no statistics are issued for an offensive lineman, one only has to look at an offense’s production to see how important an offensive guard or tackle is to a team. Harry Boatswain helped him team post a 30-10 overall record and accumulate more than 13,000 total yards and over 1,200 points during his career. He earned All-New England first team honors in 1989 and 1990 as well as received All-ECAC honors as a senior. Boatswain capped his collegiate career with a spot on the Associated Press Small College All-America team. One of his most memorable games came against Shippensburg University, his final game as a Charger. The lineman played both on offense and defense, making five tackles in the game, and scored his only career touchdown on his first career carry. Boatswain became the highest draft pick from the University of New Haven when the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the fifth round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He played in practically every game with the 49ers and was a member of the 1995 Super Bowl Championship team.
