Steve Bedrosian is the most successful player in University of New Haven baseball history. While a Charger, the pitcher posted a 13-3 record with three saves, earned first team All-America honors and helped the team reach its first-ever NCAA Division II Championship game. He fanned 102 batters in 114 innings and ended his season with a 3.07 ERA. A junior college transfer, Bedrosian stayed for just one season before signing with the Atlanta Braves following the 1978 campaign. He stayed with Atlanta for five years before signing with the Philadelphia Phillies. He won the Cy Young Award in 1987 as the best pitcher in Major League Baseball's National League, posting a 5-3 record with a major league best 40 saves in 65 appearances. Later, he signed with the San Francisco Giants where he pitched in 1989 and 1990. Bedrosian appeared in two World Series games in 1989 which many remember as the Earthquake Series. Following his stint on the West Coast, Bedrosian became a member of the Minnesota Twins, and helped the team win the World Series in 1991. He returned to the Atlanta Braves where he finished his major league career. At the time of his induction, he was a pitching coach in the Braves organization.
