Many played an important role in the Chargers' 1987 National Championship, but no one played as large a role as Sonja Beamon. Beamon capped her senior year with post-season honors including All-New England Collegiate Conference laurels. Her sophomore season was also a statistical success with a 13.1 scoring average and nine rebounds per game. The team won 78 games and posted a .667 winning percentage during her four-year career, including a school record 29-2 mark in 1987. Upon her graduation, Beamon held the school records for career rebounds with 901 and was the second all-time leading scorer with 1,208 points. At the time of her induction, she places fifth in scoring and second in rebounding in addition to seventh in career assists with 127.
