Overview

This fall the University introduced Campus Recreation; a brand new UNH department.  While the main duty of the department will be to operate the new David A. Beckerman Recreation Center, the department is also set to provide UNH students with outstanding programs and services.  Some of the programs are starting now so get involved in Rec Sports or take one of the fitness & wellness classes being offered in the Beckerman Center. 

With the new Recreation Center recently opening, many students and faculty/staff have questions about the building, the equipment, or generally about what to expect with the facility.  For answers to general questions please click on FAQ’s. To meet the staff, or for questions not included in the FAQ’s, please contact us to learn more.

The department has also received many questions regarding student employment.  Both work study and bursary eligible students can be considered for positions within Campus Recreation.  Those students interested in working for Campus Recreation must attend an information session first before they can apply.  To download the application in PDF format, please click here. The Philosophy of Campus Recreation is that at UNH it’s all about students.  The goal of Campus Recreation is to provide a wide range of programs and services that maximize student participation and involvement.  By doing so we create the opportunity to promote real life learning; an important value of the institution. 

Mission

To encourage active and balanced lifestyles for the campus community, and to facilitate student learning through the programs, services, and facilities that are offered. 

To accomplish this mission, the department will:

• Offer programs and services that are comprehensive; targeting a broad range of students and campus community members.
• Manage a progressive and comprehensive facility and ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment.
• Provide experiential learning and facilitate the development of leadership, social, and managements skills through employment and participation opportunities. 
• Always provide quality service by being respectful and understanding to every student, member, and individual.
