The Charger Cup is a competition that is played by all the teams. In order to provide a means by which student-athletes can compete for points in various life skills categories. These categories focus on servicing the community, developing leadership, teamwork, supporting fellow student-athletes, and recognizing both academic and athletic achievement.

The competition offers an outwardly visible account of our Charger's living by the Six Division II attributes which are: Balance, Service, Passion, Resourcefulness, Learning, and Sportsmanship. It also holds student-athletes, coaches, and teams as a whole accountable for their point total in various categories, and for the competitive side our student-athletes to be used towards something other than just athletic participation.

Student-athletes and teams can only receive points at events and activities that are NOT department mandated.

Categories Include:

Community Service
Individual Team Participation

Student-athletes and teams can earn points by participating in organized community service projects organized by their team. Only community service hours while representing UNH athletics will count. Mandated Community Service projects do not count towards points earned. Community Service forms must be submitted to Coach Faherty within 7 days of the completion of the event in order to receive points. Points will be determined by the Life Skills team. Life Skills team will award points based on number of participants, length of the event and magnitude of the project.

Academics
The teams with the highest team GPA after the conclusion of the academic year will be awarded points. The teams who reach their GPA goal will receive points. GPA goals have to be declared at the conclusion of the second week of classes. Every individual student-athlete who is a Dean's List Award recipient for the fall or spring semester will receive points.
  • Highest Departmental GPA- 150pts
  • Highest GPA female/male team- 100pts
  • 2nd place GPA female/male team- 50pts
  • 3rd place GPA female/male team- 25pts
  • 2 points per team for every student-athlete who is a Dean's List Award winner for the fall or spring
    semester. 5 points per team for every student-athlete who is Dean's List Award recepient for the fall or spring semester will receive points.

Charger Personal Development
Student-athletes attendance at CHAMPS/Life Skills presentations or workshops will earn points for their teams. Forms must be turned in your team SAAC representative and submitted to the SAAC secretary. Events and activities must be in the academic realm to count for points. Life skills staff will meet once a month for approval.

  • Team sponsored or supported program - 50pts each event
  • Individual participation at program - 5pts each person/program
    Team = 50%

Charger Career Development
Student-athletes can earn points for their team by attending career fairs, employer presentations, and career-enhancement workshops (i.e. resume and interview workshop). These events can be offered through the Center for Career Services department.

  • 20 pts if more than 50% of the team members attend
  • 10 pts if more than 5 team members attend
  • 1 pt per team for each individual that attends (maximum of 5 pts)

Charger Pride
Student-athletes and teams can earn points by attending home contests of other teams. Show your support for your fellow Chargers! Student-athletes must submit an attendance form to the game site manager prior to the conclusion of the contest.

5 pts per event (maximum of 100 pts can be earned). In order to earn 5 points, 50% of the team must be present.

Charger SAAC
Student-athletes can earn points by attending SAAC meetings and by participating in SAAC sponsored events. Having each team represented at SAAC meetings allows for greater student-athlete input and improved communication among teams and the athletic department staff.

2 points per team for both team representatives being present at each SAAC meeting. If team has more than 2 representatives, team can earn an additional point. 3 points max can be earned per team per meeting.

Athletic Performance
Teams and individuals will be awarded points based on national, conference, regional, or campus wide recognition, or to Northeast-10 or NCAA tournament appearances.

  • Northeast-10 Conference Champion (regular season or tournament) - 25pts
  • Team appearance in NCAA Tournament - 50pts
  • NCAA Regional Champs - 50pts
  • NCAA Championship appearance - 75pts
  • National Champion - 100pts
  • All-American recognition - 12pts
  • All-East region recognition - 8pts
  • All-Northeast-10 recognition - 6pts
  • Northeast-10 All-Academic Award - 6pts
  • Northeast-10 Sportsmanship Awards - 6pts

Blue & Gold Achievement
Above and beyond recognition in academics, community service, leadership, and athletics. A varying number of points will be awarded, at the discretion of the SAAC board members and Life Skills committee. Examples may include: service on University wide committees, organizing and implementing educational or community service projects, Varsity Club recipient, participation in conference or NCAA programming, etc. Life skills staff will meet once a month to discuss and approve activities that are submitted in this category.

How to submit points?
- Fill out point sheets available from the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance or click here and submit the sheet.

Where are points submitted?
- All sheets must be submitted in the mailbox of Josh Krusewski, Head Men's Soccer Coach in the Department of Athletics.

When?
- Sheets MUST be submitted within a week after the event. Late forms will not receive points. NO EXCEPTIONS

- Points will be tallied at the end of each month.
