The University of New Haven is a special and unique environment for the cultivation of biologists and environmental scientists. From their inception, our programs have emphasized the integration of theoretical knowledge in the sciences with practical, hands-on laboratory and field work, providing students with the skills needed to be successful scientists in their respective fields.
All our faculty are scholars in their respective disciplines, are passionate about their respective fields, love sharing their knowledge and passion with students, and are active research scientists leading projects designed for student participation.
All of our graduates are well-trained practitioners, ready to enter the workforce in their respective disciplines. They are also eminently qualified for entry into graduate and professional programs. Our graduates are employed in various positions such as research scientists, educators, and conservationists by a variety of companies and organizations, including Yale University School of Medicine, University of Colorado, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Bristol Myers Squibb, Perkin Elmer, Isoplexis, AxioMx, Qiagen, Novartis, GeneDx, LabCorp, the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, Fishers Island Oyster Company, San Antonio Zoo, Norwalk-Maritime Aquarium, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In addition, many of our students continue their education, pursuing graduate degrees (M.S. and Ph.D.) in one of the biological, marine, environmental, or earth sciences while others pursue professional degrees in the medical, dental, and veterinary medical fields.
I am certain that you will enjoy learning new and exciting information in your chosen field and participating in one of our many clubs and organizations — Biology Club, Marine Biology Club, Green Team, or Scuba Club — while interacting with faculty and other students across the University.
